Extra Curricular Opportunities

Whether you want to launch a rocket, row Eaton Dorney, trek Dartmoor, organise a fund-raising activity for charity, or play lead guitar in a rock band, you can do it all and more at Royal Liberty.

We believe in broadening the experience at school by a wealth of extra-curricular activities, which provide an important dimension to boys' lives, giving scope for further achievement and plenty of fun. The extra-curricular programme gives our boys the opportunity to develop skills and qualities such as initiative, interpersonal skills, independence of thought, problem solving, project management, having a positive attitude and working well in a team; all of which are very important life skills.

Whilst good qualifications are obviously important, facilitating access to the first step of the chosen career ladder, it is these additional skills that will aid further progress.

Many of our extra curricular activities are linked to sport, music and drama, others are clubs run by academic departments such as the Debating club (English), Maths 49’s & 64’s Club, Film Club, Science Club and Eco Club. These allow boys to develop areas of interest and extend their learning.

Some departments also run subject support sessions for those needing extra help.

Our current extra-curricular activities include:

Rocket club, Engineering club, Science club, Chess Club, Digital Photography & Animation, Football, Rugby, Dodgeball, Basketball, Ancient History, Choirs, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, Instrumental Ensembles. Please download the full timetable to find out more.

We have a member of staff dedicated to setting up and promoting extra-curricular activities who will respond to requests from boys for a preferred activity, if it is not already offered by school.

If you have any queries about our extra-curricular provision at Royal Liberty, please contact Julie Cooper, Head of Year 7 on 01708 730141 ext 235 or by email on jcooper@royalliberty.co.uk
